Stocktaking

Sometimes, stocktaking might prove to be a real headache to deal with: which products on your shelves are reserved or available? Which ones were reserved but already consumed by a project that is under production, but was not delivered yet? Cienapps' stocktaking will help you get a clear view and go through it with ease and efficiency, one category at a time.

To open the stock count, open the ‘'Tools’' menu, select the inventory tab>Inventory Input>Stock count

From this table, you will be able to view, modify or delete previous stock count or create a new one.

Make a stocktaking

The stocktaking is done one category at a time. The reason for this is simple: by doing it so, you will be able to select the work-orders that has already consumed products from that category. For example, if you are making your edge stocktaking, you will not want to include projects that already passed through the edgebanding machine, as they will already have consumed the edge that was reserved for them.

To make a stocktaking, click on ‘'New’', then select the wanted category. Select all the work-orders that have undergone the production it relates to in order to put them aside from your stock count. You will then be able to proceed to your stocktaking. Cienapps will display all products existing under the selected category.

Three columns will be displayed:

  • Shelf
Represents the initial quantity of both reserved and available products (excluding the ones coming from the work-order we have selected previously). This field is informative and cannot be edited as it should represent the quantity ‘'on your shelves’' in your inventory.

  • New
Represent the actual quantity counted during the stocktaking. This is where you input the new value.

  • Variance
Note if there is any gap between the system’s inventory and your physical one. That difference becomes an important indicator: it is possible that the consumption of certain material hasn’t been adequately tracked, altering the accuracy of your real cost price by project. Knowing this, you will then be able to put the appropriate measures into place.

Once the stocktaking is finished, you can save it and proceed to the automatic adjustment of your inventory.

Note: If the quantity of product to adjust is lower than the quantity currently reserved on work-orders, you will receive a warning message indicating that the available quantity is insufficient to proceed to the inventory adjustment. Thus you will have to un-reserved product from your work-orders to be able to complete the adjustment, and then try to understand what happen for this situation to occur.
