Calculation of volume
In the quote, order, work order and shipping forms, the volume information is displayed. In the case of files with an 'Information' section, the total volume is displayed.
This document elaborates on the display of this information, the calculation methods and the use of Imperial and metric systematics.
Display
In column
In the quotation, order, work order and shipping files, the ‘Volume’ column is available through the column configurator.
In the case of transaction files having the 'Products' and 'Materials' table, this column is also displayed and available in the configurator.
‘Information’ Section
In the 'information' section of the transaction records, the 'Volume' field is displayed with this information.
Enabling the metric system
By default, Cienapps operates in the imperial system. It is possible to configure and enable the metric system.
Activation
In the general configuration, section 'Administration' and 'Module', the option 'Metric Management' must be enabled.
IMPORTANT
This activation must be performed by a Cienapps manager. Contact your project manager for further details.
Product type
Upon restarting Cienapps after enabling this configuration, the 'Product Type' functionality is available.
Access is possible through the ‘Configuration’, ‘Manufacturer’, ‘Product Type’ sections.
Legend
Below are explanations of the features available in this window.
A- 'Is Metric' column, by manufacturing product type, you can check this option. When enabled, the metric system will be considered for this product type in Cienapps.
B- Unit of measurement for total volume. This option concerns the unit of measurement displayed in the 'Total Volume' section in the 'Information' section of transaction records.
Calculation method (Total volume)
Imperial
To calculate volume in imperial units, here's the calculation:
(Width x Height x Depth) / 1728 (Conversion to feet)
Decimal Part
Below 0.4999, rounding is not performed.
Above 0.5, the whole part is considered +1.
Metric
To calculate the volume in imperial units, here's the calculation:
(Width x Height x Depth) / 1000000000 (Conversion from mm to meters)
Rounding to 2 decimal places is performed.
