Progressive Billing

Progressive Billing

🚀 What is Progress Billing?

Progress billing allows you to invoice a portion of a line item in a sales order, instead of billing everything at once. For example, if you have a kitchen worth $15,000, you can choose to invoice just part of that amount. You can initiate invoicing on a line, and a billing window will appear with several options to define how much you want to bill.

🎯 Why Use It?

This feature is especially useful when a project unfolds in multiple phases (e.g., deposit, delivery, installation), and you want to bill according to progress.

Example:

  • 10% upfront deposit

  • 80% upon delivery

  • Final 10% after installation

⚙️ How Does It Work?

When you select one or more lines in a sales order and trigger billing, a Progress Billing window opens with several options:

📌 Billing Options:

  1. Invoice the remaining total
➤ Invoices the full remaining balance of the selected line(s).

  2. Invoice a percentage of selected lines
➤ You enter a percentage (e.g., 10%) that applies to each selected line.

  3. Invoice a percentage of the total amount of selected lines
➤ The percentage applies to the total combined value of the selected lines, then gets distributed across them.

  4. Invoice a specific amount
➤ You input an exact amount to be invoiced, which will be proportionally spread across the selected lines.

💡 Pro tip: If the order is linked to multiple projects, the invoiced amount can be distributed across them.

🔍 Invoice Tracking

After each billing action, the system will clearly display the remaining balance to invoice per line item. This gives you full visibility into what’s been billed, what’s left, and when to issue the next invoice.
