Security Delays
Cienapps uses various delays to determine when a product should be ordered so it arrives just in time for production or installation.
🔧 Delays That Influence the Trigger Date:
Shipping Delay (Supplier File)
Set per product, directly in the supplier tab.
Defines how long the supplier takes to ship the item.
Production Delay (Manufacturer Configuration)
Represents how many open days before the due date the product must be in-hand to start production.
Installation Security Delay (Manufacturer Configuration)
Optional buffer before installation, if your purchasing is based on install dates.
Order Security Delay (Manufacturer Configuration)
General buffer added to all items, useful for procurement management.
📅 Example:
If the due date is today:
Production delay = 5 business days
Shipping delay = 2 business days
Order security delay = 2 business days
Then the trigger date = today – (5 + 2 + 2) = 7 business days ago
💡 Best Practice:
Start with longer delays during setup to ensure nothing is late.
Then fine-tune (shorten) delays once your team is comfortable with the workflow.
Avoid ordering too early to prevent overstock, damage, loss, and impacting cashflow.
